What Finnish job sites require
These are the documents main contractors and the occupational safety authority (AVI) most often ask a subcontractor to show.
1. Risk assessment
Occupational Safety and Health Act 738/2002, §10
Every employer must identify hazards of the work and record the control measures. Main contractors normally ask for this before you enter the site.
Create risk assessment2. Site induction & orientation record
Occupational Safety and Health Act 738/2002, §14
Each worker must be introduced to the work, the site and its hazards. The record is signed by the worker and the person giving the induction.
Create induction record3. Written machinery / equipment permit
Government Decree 403/2008
Lifts, telehandlers, hoists and similar equipment require a written permit from the employer for each operator.
Create equipment permit4. Chemical register & safety data sheets
Occupational Safety and Health Act 738/2002, §38
All chemicals used at work must be listed with their hazard classification and safety data sheets kept available.
Create chemical register5. Method statement (TTS) & lifting plan
Government Decree 205/2009 on construction work safety
Demanding work phases and lifting operations need a written plan covering phases, hazards and controls.
